This work is my tribute to 1 116 525 people died during the Siege of Leningrad, more than 630 000 of which faded from hunger and cold.
How did the idea of the picture? I read a lot about the Blockade, as I live in St. Petersburg, walking its streets, in the houses, and in my opinion, is to know the details of this tragic page in its history. One day I happened to live in the apartment on the ground floor, which was wet, dark and cold as a crypt, the ground level reached the sill and everywhere was growing mold. It seemed to me that during the Blockade there was a warehouse of dead bodies, so its atmosphere was depressing. There were born the first sketches of the "Sled".
I think in the history of mankind, there are not many scary episodes like the Siege. Even the blood war is not so cruel because they die relatively quickly, not months, without food, in the dead of winter without heat and light.
