Ray Lisa

Lisa Ray is a Russian surrealist artist. She was born in the city of Alma-Ata in Kazakhstan.
She graduated from art school in Alma-Ata and Alma-Ata State University, faculty of FIPI.
After completing her studies at an art school, she worked as a teacher of painting at the House of Creativity and Studio at the Union of Architects. For 2 years she worked at X-gallery under the artistic direction of G. Serdyukov. In the same period, she actively exhibited in the same gallery and participated in exhibitions of the Union of Artists of Kazakhstan.
Then for many years she moved away from the visual arts: she led several dance groups, worked as a ballet dancer, and was the host of show programs.
She returned to the brush in 2008.
Since 2020 he has been living and working in Russia, in the city of St. Petersburg.
About creativity:
My surrealism is laconic, all the most important thing happens in the central part of the canvas, there is no overload with unnecessary details. The meaning embedded in the composition and the transformation of spaces and objects come to the fore. The deliberate absence of aerial perspective and general illumination of the entire composition as a whole glues the space and objects in the plot, and also allows you to perceive all the transformed objects as a whole. This is not my invention, Rene Magritte used this technique. Each work is a phrase, a reflection or just surprise, in fact it is an intellectual puzzle. There are no accidents or reflections of dreams, as in the early surrealists. The works use a deliberate method of expressing ideas that seek to break ordinary ideas. The shapes of objects do not fall apart and are not broken, each object is recognizable, but it is the author's combination of these objects that is unique and provides the basis for philosophical reflections. The viewer's task is to be surprised at the synthesis of images, solve the logical problem and get aesthetic experiences. For me it is important that the viewer thinks.
Favorite topics are female types, love, philosophy. Favorite images are, of course, the sea, autumn, space.
