In this scene Florinda (La cava) and its companion, all wrapped up (in varying degrees) in a luxurious Indian silk, prepared to bathe in the grounds of the castle near Toledo, where she lives, not knowing that they are followed by king Rodrigo, who is hiding in the bushes nearby. Franz Xaver Winterhalter in 1853. made a copy of the picture, "Florinda", who is now in the Metropolitan Museum of art in new York. This painting is a free copy of Gahan of Vladimir Ivanovich.
