Partenit is an urban-type settlement on the southern coast of Crimea. It is part of the Alushta urban district. It is located 15 km southwest of Alushta and 59 km southeast of Simferopol. The name "Partenit" is first encountered in the "Life of St. John of Gothia" (815-842):
Our venerable father John... came from the land of the Tauroscythians located on that side, subject to the rule of the Goths, namely from the marketplace called Partenity.
