The painting depicts the St. Vladimir Cathedral in Chersonesos, an Orthodox church in Sevastopol and the third cathedral of the Simferopol and Crimean diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church. Built according to the design of David Grimm in a place that is considered one of those where Grand Duke Vladimir was baptized in 987. Consecrated in 1891, it was restored from a dilapidated state in the 1990s and early 2000s. It is now located on the territory of the Tauric Chersonesos Museum-Reserve.
