When I painted this picture, I wanted to convey a special atmosphere — a slight touch of irony and mystery, which I feel in the very concept of "French manner". For me, two female figures are not just characters, but a reflection of the versatility of the female soul. They are like mirrors for each other, but in each reflection there is a nuance that changes perception. The bright scarves on their heads are a symbol of inner fire, a hidden power that frames feminine fragility. Their hands are holding scarlet spheres, and for me it is a metaphor for choice, temptation and, at the same time, feminine energy that gives birth and fills life.
I wanted the viewer to feel the play of contrasts: the cold softness of the background and the bold decorativeness of the floor, the restraint of poses and the drama of color. All this is combined into an image that is impossible to read unambiguously.
This work is about a woman who knows how to be different: gentle and strong, ironic and serious, light and whole at the same time. The "French manner" is my hint that beauty is always hidden in nuances, in semitones, in intonations that do not scream, but only whisper to the viewer: "Look deeper."
