Here, spring was just beginning—the first timid rays of the setting sun softly touched the ground, causing the snow to slowly turn into transparent drops of water. They trickled down the uneven surfaces of the stones, leaving behind a damp sheen, reminiscent of the flickering lights of an evening city frozen in the night.
The city embankment stretched along the river in a narrow black strip, quietly dissolving into the endless surface of the water. In the distance, it seemed like a ghost of the past, lost between the real world and that mysterious space of time that separates us from bygone times.
